Food trucks are taking over! We’re not mad at all. Food trucks allow much more food diversity and lower startup costs for the entrepreneurs bold enough to take the leap and pursue their dreams. A welcomed serendipitous effect of covid caused restaurant closures has led to a massive uptick in the available food truck options. All over Bakersfield we’re seeing wonderful new truck popping up regularly which bring new spins to some tasty foods. Many of these trucks are stored in and operated in areas that were functionally obsolescent in their current form. Some venues such as East Bakersfield Night Market have created a whole experience out of running to grab a bite. Their you’ll find dozens of delicious local food choices as well as live performances and other non food related vendors sharing their products with the community. We had the pleasure of trying Sizzlin Bunz today located at 7500 Rosedale Highway. We enjoyed a delicious hot dog and then wandered over to Frenchie’s Mini Donuts where we endulged in some fresh cinnamon sugar mini donuts that were to die for.

Doggy Rescue:
On Saturday January 20 thanks to the help of the Bakersfield Animal Care Center and many other volunteers 37 dogs were flown from Bakersfield to Canada where they will be fostered until they can be adopted. This will help ease the burden of the long overcrowded facilities in Bakersfield. As we have all seen the amount of stray dogs around town has gotten completely out of hand. It takes a large amount of local resources to help these issues and seeing organizations team up to help these unfortunate pups is an incredible thing to see. Hopefully this will be one of many such projects.
Woolworth’s Building Get’s $250k Grant:
MoneyWise Wealth Management the owners of the historic Woolworth’s Building in Downtown Bakersfield just received a welcomed $250,000 grant from the City of Bakersfield. This grant was created to help fund entrepreneurship and innovation in downtown Bakersfield. Construction has already begun and does not yet have an estimated completion date. The owners have stated many times that the beloved lunch counter will certainly be back and serving their amazing burgers as soon as possible. Another awesome addition is that the owners are looking for a local music store to occupy the building’s first floor retail space. Hats off to the owners for bringing a staple of downtown back to life to be enjoyed by many more generations to come!
