Birria Taco Madness!
Good morning friends! We’re going to apologize in advance, you can go ahead and throw away that salad you packed for lunch. Today we’re talking about the seemingly sudden ubiquity of Birria Tacos. These amazingly cheesy and savory treats were rare to see just a few years ago. Now they’re sold at almost every taco truck and Mexican restaurant in town. According to Wikipedia “Birria is a meat stew or soup made from goat, beef, lamb, mutton, or chicken. The meat is marinated in an adobo made of vinegar, dried chiles, garlic, and herbs and spices before being cooked in a broth. Birria is a Mexican dish from the state of Jalisco.” And yes we just cited a Wikipedia article, take that Professor Andrews! Birria Tacos’ popularity has even caused quite a few restaurants to spin off some great dishes like Birria quesadillas. If you haven’t tried Birria tacos yet we highly recommend them. A couple of our favorite spots are Taco Bros on Ming and any of the Tacos La Villa restaurants.

Local leaders gave moving and inspiring speeches highlighting the truly diverse and powerful individuals who gracefully work to make a positive impact in Bakersfield. Many speakers gave phenomenal speeches and kept the room entertained and engaged. We wanted to highlight NaTesha “T” Johnson of Upside Academy who stood out to us for her flawless humor and irresistible personality. These talks remind us of how valuable it can be to have these incredibly successful leaders in our community who selflessly donate their time and expertise to inspire and educate a community. Hats off to all involved. This event made us even more proud to call Bakersfield home.

Frozen Teslas:
Across the country Tesla owners are learning of the drastic affect that freezing temperatures can have on electric vehicle’s batteries. Pictures are flooding social media of packed Tesla charging stations in the mid west and east coast. Extreme cold and hot temperatures can make a massive difference in available range. Many owners who were able to commute for over a week without needing to charge are now stuck needing to charge almost daily. These stories highlight how daunting of a task it truly is to build an electric vehicle charging infrastructure even close to the scale of traditional gas stations.
